Dramatics Annual Inter House Awards Announced
28 March 2018
At the end of Term 1, our fantastic Dramatics Club held the Final Evening on Monday, 26 March at the Hugh Wilson Theatre for the Inter House 1 Act Plays.

MIC of Dramatics, Mr Bremner reports back on the event and Term 1 news on the Dramatics Club:

''The Dramatic Society was galvanised into action in January with Sarafina auditions. Our boys were privileged to partner with the girls of Kingsmead College in this epic South African Musical. Six intensive weeks of late night and weekend rehearsals culminated in a three night run at the College.

The boys were delighted to perform their final technical full dress for none other than Tsotsi star Terry Pheto who spoke highly of the students’ ability. The boys gave a powerful and moving performance through acting, song and dance. Besides being enamored by performing with their gracious hostesses, our actors were given a wonderful opportunity to be part of a big ensemble in a genre which they do not experience. It is the second time that this collaboration has occurred and is an experience that they would hope to repeat in the future.

The 53rd inter-house play festival was rehearsed whilst the boys were busy with Sarafina, and they launched their plays two days after ending the musical. There was an intense sense of rivalry and healthy competition within a wide range of plays.

Audience support was at a premium with the Hugh Wilson Theatre packed to capacity. The preliminary round saw Hill, Croft and Robinson through to the finals. ''
