Bowling to the Poms25 February 2020
Our KES 1st team players and coaches were afforded the wonderful opportunity to bowl the English Cricket Team in late January. The boys were really excited and have not stopped talking about their interaction with the England Team and the incredible privilege they had. Apart from the actual bowling experience, there were numerous lessons learnt by our batsmen and bowlers alike during the two-and-a-half hours they spent in and around the nets – they could witness first-hand what purposeful, deliberate and focused practice, practice discipline, application, professionalism, etc. looks like and is all about.
The manner in which our players were made to feel welcome and valued was a major talking point amongst the boys, and the appreciation shown (especially by the captain Joe Root and star cricketer Ben Stokes) was a magnificent example to the KES players of how top sportsmen should behave, and highlighted what it is we expect of our players. Respect for the game, for the opposition and officials, spectators, sponsors is a critical aspect for us and this is exactly what Joe and Ben highlighted by their actions. Dominic Bess also made a special effort to talk to and offer some valuable advice to our young spinners while he batted and then hovered around the net area after his session.
An afternoon never to be forgotten.
