SWIMMING

Swimming is a popular activity amongst the boys at King Edward VII School. In an endeavour to keep pace with growing demands, facilities are regularly upgraded and improved to ensure that the School continues to be competitive in this field.

An exceptionally generous donation from an Old Boy, allowed for the construction of a new Aquatic Centre, which was completed in January 2021.

The enclosed Aquatic Centre accommodates a 25m short course swimming pool and a smaller pool which sports five swimming lanes as well as a sixth lane with a ‘learn to swim’ component. Both pools are heated. Practices and fixtures are uninterrupted by inclement weather as the building is fully lightning proof.

Continued spirit and camaraderie is witnessed amongst the learners during our Annual Inter-House Swimming Gala held during school hours every January. Great friendships are made and cemented between everyone around the poolside. The School Championships is on-going and is traditionally held in the evening during February each year.

"  King Edward VII School has a long, enviable history of success in the pool, with numerous school and senior records having been set over the years. Swimmers have gone on to become Springboks. "
